Can Darkfall rise above the rest without holding the player's hand?
Darkfall declares and features a base of freedom, but it usually pays to be free. There are things that can drive people crazy in the game while others are done in a perfect way.
However we should keep in mind that Darkfall is still in its beta form. And all the pleasant things about Darkfall can be expressed in one sentence: Everything is done while in movement. Unlike mobs in other games, which are static, mobs in Darkfall can run away once their health points fall below 20. It may be frustrating sometims, but you would eventually like it.
Combat in Darkfall is cruel. Targets you chased would all of a sudden disappeard and revealed themselves at other locations behind you; tombstones are not necessarily to be seen around the sites where the mobs die. However in spite of all its faults, it dose get one thing right: to absorb you into the game. Even battling a goblin could attract all your focus.
