Darkfall sets its goal to support for large-scale territorial conflict between player clans. Empire is built by the way to conquer pre-made cities which are expected to be a major part of the game. The developers made an announcement that there are a finite number of pre-made cities within the world.
Across the entirety of the world are spread these pre-made city sites which are different in those aspects of location, surrounding terrain and access to nearby resource nodes. Their ability to conquer the owning clan is a primary part. The developers expect certain sites, such as underground cave sites hidden by a waterfall, or a precipitous mountain-side location with a precarious one-way approach to be more highly coveted than other sites, adding to the potential for territorial conflict.
